It has felt like people have increasingly started using the phrase “forever home.”
They seem to mean “the house I want to be perfect according to my current whims that I intend to live till old age in.”
Which seems like an absolutely preposterous statement, for a number of reasons.
For the religiously inclined, “forever” should refer to things post mortality–things that actually might last forever.
For others, a more “now” focused approach makes more sense.
What are the chances your needs will be the same in five years as they are now. What will your needs be in 10 years? After your children leave home? Will you need the same things at age 80 that you will at age 40?
So basically, no. To any of the above.
There is, therefore, no reason to think of a forever home.
