Overcoming slow mornings

I got to bed early last night. Rather than the normal start winding down at 2200, I was in bed reading before 2100 and fell asleep around 2215.

And then my alarm went off at 0530. [Snooze] with the intent to use the next 9 minutes to wake up.

I never used to snooze. Of course, my alarm was across the room. But today I snoozed.

But my brain did not shut down again. If it had, I likely would be there still. I knew snoozing would cause problems, so I pulled out the book and started reading again. And when the alarm went off the second time, I was ready for it.

Winning on mornings you don’t want to is about discipline and commitment. It takes focus, and it is assisted by knowing there are things to do.

Decide on them. List them. Then go to sleep at night.
