There isn’t much that goes into taking time for yourself. Although sometimes it feels like it’s more than you might be able to do.
Making five or ten minutes seems impossible and just taking the time to reflect and introspect can be painful.
But it’s also freeing.
Both are reasons you should do it. Both are reasons I should do it more.
It’s not about perfect. It’s about honesty. We often aren’t honest enough with ourselves to recognize the importance of taking time for us.
Yes, your spouse is important. Yes, your kids seem like they need constant attention. But you need time to you to reset and stop running away from the corrections you’re afraid to make.
Take out the earbuds. Listen to the quiet around you. Endure the noise in your head. It’ll all subside eventually.
And you’ll find yourself enjoying the hammock you’re in, gently swinging in the shade of a too-small tree.
