It took me 14 miles yesterday before I got to a point where my thoughts started rolling. Part of it was I was dealing with climbing and descents for most of the ride and part of it was it took me that long to get into the zone.
Fourteen miles really isn’t bad though.
I usually don’t find the rhythm till 10 miles, so a few extra is no big deal.
But miles beyond 10–easy miles where I’m not climbing or working in threshold power–are wonderful for thinking through problems. Conclusions rarely happen on rides. But lots of starter thoughts come.
And often that’s what I’m looking for
